Best dental scrap refiners

Are you ready to refine your dental scrap but don’t know how to find the best dental scrap refiners to work with?

Searching for dental scrap refiners can be confusing with all the options available and the potential scammers that are out there. If you want to save time and money on the search for the best dental scrap refiner, follow these tips!

Looking for the best dental scrap refinery?

Need a refreshment on what dental scrap and dental scrap refining are? Check out these articles:

What is dental scrap?

Dental scrap refining

What to avoid when choosing a refiner

The first thing you need to know is what to avoid when choosing a refiner, because, as we mentioned before, there are some scammers out there trying to buy your dental scrap for much less than it is worth.

Beware of cash buyers on the spot. They are middlemen who buy your dental scrap for a few hundred dollars, which might seem convenient at the time. But the reality is that the value of your dental scrap can be much higher for two reasons:

  • They don’t know the real content of precious metals on your dental scrap. They follow a “weigh and pay” approach, which is basically guessing the value of the scrap without real knowledge of the percentage of precious metals and different alloys, which can be worth a lot. Dental offices are losing the most money because of this practice.
  • Then, there are the fees that they take for themselves. As we said above, they are intermediaries, who have to go to a refiner after buying your scrap and earn the price difference. Why not just skip this step and go directly to the refinery?

In other cases, refineries themselves send a representative to your dental office to inspect the scrap and pay you right there for it. No matter how expert this representative is, there is absolutely no way to know the real value of your dental scrap without assaying the materials. Some dental professionals take this option because it’s a quick pay, but you might be losing 50% or more of the pay you’d get if you sent your dental scrap to a serious refiner that will melt and test its composition. The price difference is worth waiting for the scrap to be processed.

Best place to sell dental scrap

The truth is that not all dental refiners are scammers. Some of us are out there trying to bring transparency and traceability to this industry.

How do you make sure you are working with the best dental scrap refiner?

The thing you can trust more is the reputation of the refinery and the reviews from the clients, who will surely not lie.

Considering that a dental refinery is the same thing as a precious metal refinery, here are a few tips to choose the best precious metal refining company.

If you want to start working with the best dental scrap refiner, try us! Our customers experience a profit 2-5 times higher than with previous providers, and some even earn 10 times more!

Cash for dental scrap

Trying to get some cash for your dental scrap? Your dental scrap is worth a lot more than what a cash buyer is offering you.

Before explaining what a cash buyer and middlemen are in the industry, you can learn everything you need about selling dental scrap here.

Looking for the best dental scrap refinery?

Cash for dental scrap – what is a cash buyer in the dental scrap industry?

Whether you are a dental professional who has a bunch of dental scrap to sell, or an individual who found an old dental crown in a drawer, you need this information before selling dental scrap.

There are different types of dental scrap or dental gold buyers. Cash buyers on the spot are people who offer to buy your dental scrap at the moment without assaying it. Of course, it can seem convenient at the time to get some quick cash for materials you might otherwise throw away, but based on our analysis, you might actually be losing over 70% or more of the value of your dental scrap.

A cash buyer is just a middlemen in the dental scrap industry. They will pay you a specific amount based on the weight of your material, or directly take a look at it and pay you on the gold (which they can spot easily). The reality is that palladium is found in dental scrap more often than gold, and it is a metal that is quite more valuable than gold, worth over $1,000 more than an ounce of gold at this moment. You cannot eye-ball palladium, and you cannot define the value of the dental scrap gold just by taking a look at it. This is how this middlemen or cash buyers make a huge profit, by paying you $300 when they then go to a direct refinery like us and make easily 10 times more.

Looking for the best dental scrap refinery?

How much is a gold tooth worth?

Can you sell a gold tooth? That is a question many people are asking, and the answer is yes, you can sell it! But if you are searching to know how much a gold tooth is worth, that is another conversation. The reality is that dental gold value can fluctuate a lot depending on different factors. If you want to know more about it, keep reading!

How to calculate how much a gold tooth is worth?

Not all gold teeth are worth the same. The amount of gold in your gold tooth, filling, or dental bridge will decide how much money you get. The price at which your dental gold can be sold is determined by a number of variables. The karat, quantity, and current market price of gold are the most important factors.

  • Karat of Gold: The majority of dentists make gold crowns from a mixture of gold and another metal. The alloy material they use often comes from another precious metal, such as silver, platinum, or palladium, which raises the final price of the product. But it may also be a non-valuable metal like nickel. So, how much gold does a gold crown contain? It depends on the dentist and the use of the crown, filling, or bridge. Most crowns have between 10-22 karat gold, but for smaller dental work, pure gold may be used.
  • Quantity of Gold: More gold equals more cash. A higher percentage of gold in the crown’s alloy is one way to measure gold, but the size of the crown itself is probably the most important aspect. Even if you have a smaller 24-karat gold cap, a dental bridge made of 20-karat gold may be more valuable.
  • Current Price of Gold: The current gold selling price is an obvious sign, but it can change a lot. Fortunately, there are resources available to assist in determining the spot price of gold. You can check today’s gold price here.

If you can get the weight and karat of your dental gold tooth, you can use our scrap gold calculator to get an accurate estimate of their value.

How much are gold crowns worth?

How much are gold crowns worth? Or, if they are worth any money at all?

Knowing the value of a gold crown tooth can be tricky, but this article will help you clarify your doubts.

You can also find out where to sell dental gold here.

Looking for the best gold refinery?

How much gold is in a dental crown?

A gold crown normally contains about one-tenth of an ounce of gold or about 3 grams. Considering that the average gold crown uses 16 karat gold, the price of one gold crown with today’s market prices is around $105 (January 10, 2022). You can check the live gold price and calculate the current value in our karat gold calculator.

The reality is that dental gold can go from 10 to 22 karat, and this gold is usually mixed with other precious metals that could raise the value of your gold crown. Learn more about dental gold value.

What is the real value of gold crowns?

Sadly, there is no easy way to know the real content of gold and other precious metals in your dental crowns. You can get an estimate of the price if you know the karat of the gold used, but generally, people don’t have this information.

The absolute best thing you can do is send your gold crowns to a specialized dental refiner, who will melt the precious metals and assay to know the real value.

Also, gold crowns are not the only dental scrap that is valuable! Bridges, fillings, porcelain fused to metal, silver-colored or white-gold, and other dental alloys can be refined, and you can get a profit for them. You can check the type of dental scrap to send to a refinery like Core Scientific here.

Dental scrap refining – How to find the best dental refiner

What is dental scrap refining?

First of all, before talking about dental scrap refining and how to choose the best dental scrap refiner, if you are not sure about what dental scrap is, you might be interested in checking out this article where we cover the subject.

Dental scrap refining is basically the process of melting the precious metals that are part of dental scrap to separate them from the other non-valuable elements. In this way, they can be recovered and reused, or resold to gain a profit.

looking for the best dental scrap refiner?

What is dental Refiner?

In this case, a dental refiner is nothing more than a precious metal refiner that is specialized in dental scrap refining. For example, Core Scientific is the best dental scrap refiner in North America, we are a precious metal refinery but specialized in dental scrap refining having a dedicated team for the industry and an in-house laboratory.

Type of dental scrap to send to a dental refiner:

  • Porcelain fused to metal
  • Porcelain fused to gold
  • Extractions with inlays and onlays
  • Precious metal crowns and bridges
  • Yellow gold partials
  • Buttons, wire, clasps

Dental scrap that is not accepted: amalgam pellets (contain mercury), traps, x-ray backing (lead), separators, partials (non-precious alloy), instruments, non-metallic scrap.

dental scrap refining

If your dental scrap isn’t on this list and you are not sure if it can be recycled, don’t worry. You can send it anyway, and our professionals will examine it and determine its value.

How to find the best dental refiner.

All precious metal refineries will tell you that they refine dental scrap, but not many of them are specialized in this niche. For your convenience, you might want to work with a dental refiner specialist, who you know can do the job correctly and recover the most precious metals out of your dental scrap.

Core Scientific is a specialized dental refiner. We are the leader in the industry, providing the highest returns. The thousands of dental offices across North America that trust us for all their dental scrap metal recycling needs are proof that we offer a superior service to our customers, who usually experience an increase in their return up to 300% with respect to their previous refiners.

We found several problems in the industry when we first started the company in 2012. Most dental offices were underpaid by their refining suppliers, with these scenarios being the most common:

First, dental professionals were selling their dental scrap to a cash buyer on the spot who presented at their offices and paid, for example, $200 for a jar full of dental scrap, which has an actual value between $1,000 and $10,000. These cash buyers would then go to a dental refinery and gain the difference in price, the dentists earning 20% of the value in the best case.

Second, some refineries worked directly with the dental offices and paid slightly more to earn their business, but then did a similar practice as cash buyers, knowing that the margin was huge between what they paid and the actual value of the scrap, but they kept that information from the customers and got the most profit.

The third scenario was that palladium was being left out of the picture for refining. It can’t be recognized by the naked eye, so cash buyers would tell dentists that they pay only for metals containing yellow gold, and direct refiners didn’t provide palladium results or they hid the content they found, so they both made a huge earning from it without dentists even knowing the value of their scrap. Even worse, because they were badly advised by their suppliers, dental offices would throw away precious pieces of palladium because it looks like every other metal, and they would think it was titanium or steel, which don’t have market value. Palladium has been one of the most used metals for implants, most PFM and dental alloys have it, so dental professionals were losing a great deal of money.

When we found out about these situations, we knew we wanted to make a difference in this industry. That’s why full transparency is our main principle as refiners, and it is also the reason why we’ve been growing so fast as a company. We are an INC 5,000 company, one of the growing private companies in the United States.
We are also Summit Sponsors and the Official Dental Refinery of the American Association of Dental Office Management, meaning we are the only refinery recommended by AADOM.

As part of maintaining this full transparency, we make sure to provide you with a full assay report of your dental scrap after refining it, where you can see how much of each precious metal we found and how much we pay for each of them. We are also the only precious metal refinery that provides a 24/7 customer portal where you can control the weight and pictures of your material, and track all historical settlement records.

We are a dental refinery, with a division specialized in dental scrap refining.

If you are ready to start refining dental scrap with us, get in touch! We will be glad to assist you and start the process.

What is dental scrap? Everything about dental scrap Metal recycling

Dental scrap is every material left over after a dentist’s intervention. Yet, there is an important distinction to make here: usually, when we talk about dental scrap, we are talking about dental scrap metal that contains precious metals that can be recycled and refined, with a value that’s higher than the cost of this process. That means that you cannot send all kinds of dental implants to recycle because some are just not worth it. Dental scrap metal recycling is a great way to generate passive revenue and help the environment!

Dental practices and dental labs generate a variety of dental scrap metal that can be more or less valuable according to the content of precious metals. Let’s see which ones contain the most.

looking for the best dental scrap refiner?

Precious metals in dental scrap

Old pieces of dental scrap used to contain a greater quantity of precious metals, but with the advances in dental technology, the use of these elements has been decreasing in recent years.

So, the items that are worth the most because of their noble metal quantities are old yellow-gold implants, crowns, bridges, fillings, inlays, and overlays.

All dental scrap metal that contain white gold or silver-colored metals can be very valuable because they can have a high gold composition or even platinum and palladium.

Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) and porcelain fused to gold (PFG) crowns have less metal but can be recycled as well.

But even the smallest amounts of precious metals can be recovered, like the granules from floor and bench sweeps, carpeting, and vacuum bags and filters, mostly from dental laboratories. If you are interested in dental scrap metal recycling, the best thing you can do is to contact us, we help you get started and provide you guidelines to recover more dental scrap metal and generate higher returns!

Why you should recycle dental scrap metal

  • Generate passive income: If you have a dental office or a dental lab, and you are not yet recycling your dental scrap, you might be losing a great deal of money. The average dental office generates nearly $3,000 per year, and dental group practices can make up to $10,000 annually. If you work with the correct dental refiner, you’ll be sure to get the most out of your materials.
  • Help the environment: Dental scrap metal recycling is good for the environment. All mining processes for noble metals are contaminating and dangerous, so the more you recycle, the less mining there will be, and the more sustainable your practice will become. Besides, the cost of recycling dental materials is a fraction of the cost of mining the metals. Helping the environment is not just good for everyone, but it also gives you a great reputation among your patients.

Dental scrap recycling with a direct refinery

If you are looking for a dental scrap metal recycling company, going with a direct refiner is always the best choice. Many dental professionals are underpaid because they are selling their dental scrap to a middleman. These agents retain most of the value of the dental scrap recycling process and pay very little to the offices that produced them.

Also, when working with a direct dental refiner, you can make sure they meet all your requirements. You should look for a company that has transparency with its clients, uses the right process technologies, is environmentally friendly, and has an in-house laboratory to test the results of the refining.

Core Scientific is the leader in dental scrap metal recycling in North America. We are a direct precious metal refinery specialized in dental scrap refining that will provide you with the highest return in the industry.  We are an INC 5,000 company, one of the fastest private-growing companies in the USA, and we got this far with a simple concept: transparency and putting you first. We are EPA compliant and very proud of our in-house laboratory, which lowers the times of production and fees. You will get paid sooner and 2 to 5 times more than other providers!

We use the latest technologies to process your dental scrap metal, so you can be sure to get the most out of its value, and we provide you with our exclusive customer portal so you can track your material at every stage, see pictures, verify weights, and access assay reports.

If you want to get started, contact us! We’ll send you a container, and you can start collecting your dental scrap to generate money.

Let me share a story: The Dentist learns the value of his dental scrap!

As a sales associate, I speak with dozens of people a day but I recently had an interesting chat with a dentist. While we were talking about his dental scrap materials he mentioned that this material isn’t worth anything. I remember smiling over the phone because this was a response I’ve received before. Dental scrap, like gold crowns or PFM crowns, are usually thrown away or given to a cash buyer. It isn’t something at the “TOP of the LIST”. Which I completely understand.

Most dentists are unaware that dental scrap is valuable and can bring in extra revenue for the dental office. This can make a real difference in the office. I told the dentist “did you know you could make thousands on this material?”. He’s shocked!

He was only making a few couple hundred dollars from the “cash buyer” but he didn’t think he could make more. Sending to a refinery can get you at least 150% more on your dental scrap than a refiner.

He said “Yes let’s get started. There’s so much we can do with that money.” Following that conversation, I sent him our complimentary collection container. This container could be set nearby for you to collect the material in. Once it gets to a certain point all you need to do is call us or log into our customer portal to schedule a pickup. FedEx will pick up the container for FREE. Then in 4-5 business days, we will mail out your refund check.

Yes, it’s that easy.

Did you know that using a ‘cash buyer’ will reduce your dental scrap return?

Using “cash for gold” or “cash buying” businesses affect your dental scrap return by at least 150%.

Cash buyers and dealers come into dental offices offering a great deal for the dental scrap material. But, this couldn’t be further from the truth. They use un-precise methods to check your materials. This gives dentists an unfavorable return by saying this is the value of the gold based on the weight. This is inaccurate! The only way to get a true value of the gold is through a Fire Assay procedure in a laboratory. There a refiner can extract the most precious metal.
Imagine getting paid $100 for a product worth $1000. Well, that’s exactly what is happening when you use a cash buyer.
Yes, we hear that this material is not a high priority. And that’s why it’s given to a cash buyer – convenience. If you collect this material in one of our FREE collection containers and send it in, it can be convenient too. Use a refinery and get more for your material. You can use this revenue for upgrading equipment, new technology, advertising, or employee benefits/perks – to name a few!

Earn more for your dental scraps by doing this 1 thing!

The only way you can truly capitalize on your dental scrap material is to send it into a refinery. Many dealers or cash buyers say they provide the most accurate value of your material but they are WRONG! The only way to get the true value of this material is through a fire assay procedure done in a laboratory. This process extracts the most precious metals from the dental scrap and evaluates its value.

Many dentists are unaware that they are getting 50% to even 150% less for their dental scrap – when they choose a cash buyer. Make the better decision; choose the Core Scientific refinery for your dental scrap material.

Selling PFM Crowns

YES! You can definitely get paid for porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns. Some dental offices believe they can’t sell PFM’s so they either throw them away or give them to a “cash buyer” for pennies on the dollar.

Sadly, these crowns can be worth a lot of money. A refinery, like Core Scientific, will process these crowns using their advanced, cutting-edge laboratory to extract the most precious metals from the crowns.

We have worked with Dental offices that received a few dollars for these crowns. However once they collected and shipped to Core Scientific they received a refund 100 times more (yes, that’s right….100 X MORE, if not more) than their previous refund.

Send in your PFM crowns to Core Scientific and receive the highest return. Stop getting a few couple dollars for this material, and get A LOT more!
